GetWell
was created in 1998 with the internet in mind, in an effort to offer
"screened" medical resources. The founder sfelt that with the
wide access of information through the use of the internet, consumers may
be taken in by advertisers rather than researched information. Also the
amount of available information is overwhelming and discouraging.
GetWell
is also involved in a number of activities where it felt there was a unmet
need in
the medical area, such as in during the 9/11 catastrophe or in an
effort to decrease health care costs of undiagnosed domestic abuse.
GetWell
provided on-line assistance and counseling to families of victims during
9/11.
GetWell
provides medical resources from reviewed
World Wide Web resources. All resources are carefully reviewed by
medical professionals in an effort to protect consumers against bad
information from unclear sources.
GetWell is also involved in advocacy and training pertaining to
the subject of the advocacy. For example: Advocacy to train health care
